PI lawyer faces SRA for slapping woman

A personal injury lawyer and partner could be struck off for slapping a women during a court case win celebration.

Peter Savage, a personal Injury lawyer and partner at Harrison Clark, slapped a hotel manager during a night out celebrating a court case win. He pleaded guilty to assault two years ago but the conviction has recently reached the attention of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority.

The SRA couldn’t confirm when the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal would decide his punishment. But a spokesperson said that a hearing may not be required:

“In cases like this where someone has been convicted in court we wouldn’t have to make a case but the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal would decide the punishment.”

SRA spokesman Geoffrey Negus said: "It is important that solicitors' conduct outside the workplace does not bring the profession into disrepute."
