Nominations open for new personal injury awards

Nominations are now open for newly-launched personal injury awards.

The first cross-industry personal injury awards are open for nominations. The ‘Eclipse Proclaim’ Personal Injury Awards, launched by Barker Brooks Media, are open to individuals and companies working in the field including solicitors, barristers, insurers, rehabilitation providers and claims management companies.

The awards will culminate in a ceremony and dinner at the Café Royal, London, on Tuesday 4th November.

Nominating a colleague, organisation, or even yourself is easy; go to www.legal-medical.co.uk/piawards, where the judging criteria can be found to help nominators assess the suitability of their proposed nominee.

The entry deadline is 29 August 2008 and nominees will be notified whether they have been shortlisted by the end of September.

Entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of industry insiders and representatives of professional bodies.

The awards have received a warm welcome from the industry. One of the judges Norman Cottington said, “there are insurance awards and rehabilitation awards at the moment, but nothing specifically for PI to identify and promote good practice. It is a pleasure to be one of the judges after being involved in PI for the last 43 years.”

Awards judge Tony Goff also said, “I think it’s high time that there were awards for personal injury lawyers and all those involved in claims.” He continued, “I am honoured to be invited as a judge.”

There are 13 categories altogether: Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (claimant); Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (defendant); Personal Injury Team of the Year; Claims Management Company of the Year; Insurance Claims Handler of the Year (minor claims); Insurance Claims Handler of the Year (serious claims); ATE Insurance Broker of the Year; Medical Agency of the Year; Rehab Provider of the Year; Barrister of the Year; Barristers’ Chambers of the Year; Outstanding Case of the Year; and Innovation Award. An award for Outstanding Achievement will be presented to either an individual or an organisation.
