PI solicitor committed suicide during SRA accounts investigation

A personal injury solicitor took his own life, during a Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) investigation, because of financial worries.

Worcester News has reported from the inquest that Nicholas Tidball, who was a partner of Abbotts solicitors, was found dead in the firms kitchen during an investigation into his accounts by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The investigator made the discovery and called emergency services. Tidball killed himself using a plastic bag connected to a large cylinder of helium he had hired after researching suicide methods on a website.

Hi family and friends were not aware of his personal debts, the newspaper reports.

The coroner Geraint Williams recorded a verdict of suicide at the County Coroners’ court in Stourton-on-Severn on 19 August. A post mortem examination found the cause of death to be helium inhalation.
