Description
Employment Rehabilitation specialists. We act as an independent agency, offering rehabilitation services to ensure the best and quickest possible recovery from personal injury, under the provisions of the Rehabilitation Code. We are highly qualified, with extensive experience, yet inexpensive. A brochure with more information about us, and our scale of charges, is available on request.
Why choose us?
There are many agencies which accept instruction under the Rehabilitation Code; are we the best people to help you with the client you are dealing with right now? The information here might help you decide:
We specialise in vocational rehabilitation. While we take instruction for all forms of rehabilitation, helping people on the path back to work is our specialist field.
We are a small agency, with no standardised systems to tie us down; everything we do is tailored to the individual instruction we receive.
Unlike other providers, we have no links with any insurance company, and accept all instruction exclusively from claimants’ solicitors.
Our underlying philosophy - work helps recovery.
We put work issues at the start rather than at the end of rehabilitation.
Focussing on work soon after injury:
can prevent a spiral into unemployment during the compensation process
helps preserve more of any damages which are ultimately awarded.
can in itself be therapeutic; even if an immediate return to work is ruled out, taking work-related steps early on, and discovering that an eventual return to work really is possible, can often be the best medicine around
Typical sequence of options we might explore
Back to old job, with aids and adaptations if needed
Retention with existing employer in a different job
Psychometric assessment for alternative work
Investigate job and earnings prospects in that work
Training if required
Assisted job search.
We provide
Rehabilitation Code assessments, and individually tailored solutions, with clear steps and time-scales.
Nationwide coverage, with telephone assessment where appropriate.
Expert advice on DDA obligations and workplace adjustments.
Reasonable Adjustment
The Disability Discrimination Act requires employers to make reasonable adjustment for disabled employees, but what does this mean in practice? We will talk to all involved, and give an independent assessment of what, if any, reasonable adjustment is needed. We can ensure the workplace is suitably adapted for an employee, usually at little or no cost, and help secure public funding to cover such things as:
- additional travel costs to work due to disability
- support workers
- special aids in the workplace, such as adaptive software for computers
- adaptations to premises or equipment in the workplace
Occupational Assessment
We can carry out psychometric testing, to determine a suitable alternative form of work following personal injury. Where injury necessitates a change of occupation, it is crucial to ensure that the new occupation is the right one before investing time and money in retraining. An Occupational Interest Inventory and psychometric tests can help identify jobs which match one's interests, and for which one has the necessary aptitudes, after which we investigate the likely number of job openings and earnings potential to enable an informed choice of alternative career to be made.We are approved by the British Psychological Society to prescribe, conduct and interpret psychometric tests. To minimise costs, tests are conducted at the claimant’s home, if the environment is suitable.
